Armhole - Adjustment to the opening for the arm.

Darts - To create a better fit.
Embellishment - To improve the overall appearance of an item of clothing.
Frills - Using a strip of gathered or pleated material to enhance a garment.
Gathering - Adjusting the width of a garment for ease of wearing.
Hook and Eye - Used to hold garments together.
Interfacing - Stiff material used on the reverse of a garment to stablilise the fabric.
Joining - Attaching two pieces of fabric.
Knitted - Alterations to knitted garments.
Lining - Reinforcement for garment.
Lacing - To fasten garment
Mitre - Mitre the corners of garments.
Neaten Edges - Finishing the unfinished or fraying edges of a garment.
Overlock - Stitching used to neaten seams and hems.
Pleating - Folding and pleating fabric for fullness.
Quilting - Fabric used for padding.
Ribbon - Strip or strips of fabric attached to a garment for decoration.
Spray Starch - Used to stiffen fabrics eg. shirt collar.
Stretchy - Alterations to stretchy garments.
Top Stitch - Used to decorate an item of clothing or to apply crisp edges.
Under Arm Binding - Binding to reinforce the underarm part of garments.
Vent - Used as an opening to allow space on a garment.
Webbing - A robust strip of fabric sewn into to a garment as a strap.
Cross Stitch - Stitching used for decoration to fabric.
Yarn - Type of thread used for sewing fabric or knitted garment.
Zip - Used to close fabric on a garment.
